The Perfect Season: Polar Bears Secure NPBDL Title-Jan 23, 2026
YINCHUAN, NINGXIA - In a season defined by breakout talent and high-octane offense, the Ningxia Shi Guang Park Polar Bears have etched their names into the history books. Finishing the 2025 Ningxia Professional Basketball Development League (NPBDL) season with a flawless 16–0 record, the Polar Bears capped off their dominant run with a commanding 92–56 victory over the Jinfeng Ducks in the Championship Game. The Untouchable Campaign From the opening tip-off in October to the final buzzer in November, the Polar Bears operated on a different level. While the league featured several competitive squads - including the resilient Lingwu Eagles (8–8) and the high-scoring Xingqing Wildcats (7–8)—none could find an answer for the Polar Bears' transition game and defensive pressure. The Jones Kadeim (191-G-1999, college: UWG) Phenomenon The story of the 2025 season cannot be told without mentioning the league’s standout star, Jones Kadeim. The American-born guard, a graduate of the University of West Georgia, produced a statistical season that looks more like a video game than reality.Jones led the league in nearly every major category, averaging a staggering 49.2 points, 13.1 assists, and 9.6 steals per game. His ability to disrupt passing lanes and turn steals into immediate fast-break points became the Polar Bears' signature."Kadeim doesn't just play the game; he dictates the pace of everyone else on the floor," said one opposing coach after the semifinals. "You spend forty minutes trying to slow him down, and he still walks away with 40 points and 10 assists." Finals Performance In the Championship Game, Jones left no room for doubt. He earned Finals MVP honors by dropping 41 points and flirted with a quadruple-double, tallying 12 assists, 8 rebounds, and 6 steals. Postseason Drama: The Near-Upset Despite the Polar Bears' eventual blowout in the finals, their path wasn't without a massive scare. In the Semifinals, the Xingqing Wildcats nearly ended the perfect season.Led by Yang Chen (21 pts) and Ren Zihan (18 pts), the Wildcats played a disciplined game that frustrated the Polar Bears' rhythm. The game came down to the final possession, with the Polar Bears narrowly escaping with a 91-90 victory. This narrow margin served as a wake-up call, as the Bears returned to their dominant form just four days later for the championship. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
