American Forward Gaige Prim (203-F-1999) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Hyundai Mobis Phoebus, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 33. The 24-year old player had a double-double of 42 points and 11 rebounds, while his team edged out LG Sakers (#3, 27-16) 98-95. Mobis Phoebus maintains the 5th position in South Korean KBL. Mobis Phoebus is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 23-19 record. In the team's last game Prim had a remarkable 72.0% from 2-point range. It's his second year at Mobis Phoebus and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Former Missouri State University star has very solid stats this year. Prim is in league's top in points (7th best: 19.9ppg) and averages impressive 59.0% FGP.
The second best player in last round's games was young American Alize Johnson (206-SF-1996) of KCC Egis. Johnson had a very good evening with a double-double of 23 points and 21 rebounds. Of course Egis cruised to a 81-72 relatively comfortable win over slightly lower-ranked KoGas (#7, 17-26). KCC Egis' 6th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 21-19 record is not bad and everything may still change. Johnson is a newcomer at KCC Egis, but is already one of team's top players.
Third on the list of top players last round was forward Jeong-Hyeon Lee (187-F-1999) of Sono Skygunners (#8). Lee got into 30-points club by scoring 42 points in the last round. He went also for eleven assists. He was a key player of Skygunners, leading his team to a 95-77 easy win against slightly higher-ranked KCC Egis (#6, 21-19). The chances of Sono SG not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 29 games, recording just thirteen victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Lee could try to bring Sono SG's a little bit higher in the standings. Lee has individually a great season in South Korea. After 32 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 21.5ppg (6th best) and assists with 6.7apg (2nd best).
Other top performing players last week: 4. Paris Bass (207-F/C-1995) of Suwon KT - 32 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists 5. Jae-Sok Jang (205-C-1991) of Mobis Phoebus - 17 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists 8. Du'Vaughn Maxwell (201-F-1991) of KoGas - 20 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists 9.
