#1. Dominican Republic native Luis Santos, a 6'8'' center aged 31, who graduated from St. Louis in 2018 and currently plays professionally in Uruguay, was unable to lead Aguada (21-11) to victory in their recent game. Despite his stellar performance, the third-placed Aguada suffered a significant 99-82 defeat at the hands of the leading Penarol in a crucial matchup within the Places 1-6 group. Santos, playing in his debut season with the team, showcased his skills by contributing 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist in 29 minutes of play against Penarol. Despite his noteworthy efforts, Aguada was unable to secure the win against their strong opponents. Throughout the season, Santos has maintained impressive statistics, averaging 12.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game, making him a standout player in the league.
#2. Experienced champion Willie Reed, a 6'11'' center/forward who is 36 years old and an alumnus of the Billikens class of 2011, currently plays professionally in Venezuela. In a recent game, Reed was unable to lead Cocodrilos (19-5) to victory as they suffered an 84-69 defeat on the road against the lower-ranked Guaiqueries (#4). Despite his strong performance, Reed's team fell short in the match. Reed showcased his skills by scoring 13 points and grabbing 9 rebounds in 28 minutes of play against Guaiqueries. His efforts on the court were notable, but unfortunately, Cocodrilos could not clinch the win. Throughout the season, Reed has been averaging 9.6 points per game and 5.0 rebounds per game, demonstrating his consistent contribution to the team's performance.
#3. Michael Meadows Jr., a 6'2'' guard who graduated from St. Louis in 2024 and currently plays professionally in Australia, showcased his skills last Saturday despite Dandenong Rangers' defeat. The fifth-placed Dandenong Rangers (9-6) were unable to secure a win against the higher-ranked Spectres (#4) in the South group, losing 111-106 in East Burwood. In the game, Meadows Jr. was the second-highest scorer for his team, contributing 21 points along with 3 assists during his 39 minutes on the court. Despite his impressive performance, including scoring, rebounding, and playmaking, Dandenong Rangers fell short against the Spectres. Throughout the season, Meadows Jr. has maintained solid averages of 8.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game, demonstrating his consistent contribution to the team's efforts on the court. His talent and dedication as a player continue to make him a valuable asset for Dandenong Rangers as they strive to compete against tough opponents in the league.
#4. Javon Bess, a 6'6'' power forward and 30-year-old alumnus of the Billikens from 2019, currently plays professionally in Bosnia. Known for his All-Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year award in 2019, Bess recently made a significant impact in a game where his team, BC Igokea Mtel Aleksandrovac, emerged victorious against KK Bosna Meridianbet Sarajevo with a scoreline of 100-97 in the Bosnia and Herzegovina Division I. In this crucial match between two top 3 ranked teams in their group, Bess showcased his talent by scoring 6 points and grabbing 1 rebound in just 24 minutes of play. His notable contribution was instrumental in securing a win for BC Igokea Mtel Aleksandrovac, ultimately leading them to victory as the champion of the game.
