Every week we bring you a list of the top former Gaels players who continue their career in pro basketball.



   #1. Experienced Australian Patty Mills, a 6'2'' guard at 37 years old, graduated from SMC in 2009 and received the NABC Division I All-District 9 First Team award that year. Currently playing professionally in Spain, Mills recently showcased his skills for La Laguna Tenerife (18-16) in a game last Friday. Despite his commendable performance, Tenerife suffered an 87-82 defeat on the road against the higher-ranked Surne Bilbao (#7). Mills emerged as the second-highest scorer of the game, contributing 13 points and making 3 assists in just 18 minutes of play. As Tenerife has only one more game left in the Regular Season, the upcoming match holds significant importance for the team. In the recent match against Bilbao, Mills displayed his talent by scoring 13 points and providing 3 assists. Despite his remarkable efforts, Tenerife was unable to secure the victory. Throughout the season, Mills has consistently excelled with impressive statistics, averaging 17.5 points per game, ranking him as the third-best scorer in the league, along with 1.4 assists per game.

   #2. Mitchell Saxen, a 24-year-old center standing at 6'10'' and an alumnus of Gaels from 2025, currently plays professional basketball in France. Recently, he showcased his skills in a thrilling match where Nanterre 92, the team he plays for, emerged victorious against league leaders Monaco with a score of 98-89 in the French Betclic ELITE. In this highly anticipated game between two top 4 ranked teams, Saxen displayed his prowess by achieving a double-double, scoring 10 points and securing an impressive 15 rebounds in just 26 minutes of play. His remarkable performance was instrumental in guiding Nanterre 92 to triumph. Saxen's exceptional abilities on the court not only helped his team secure the win but also reinforced his reputation as a formidable champion. Throughout the season, Saxen has been maintaining solid statistics, averaging 4.7 points per game and 5.9 rebounds per game. His consistent contributions and stellar performances have undoubtedly made him a vital asset for his team as they strive for success in the league. Saxen's dedication and talent continue to shine, positioning him as a key player in the quest for victory, both as an individual finalist and as part of the Nanterre 92 team.

   #3. Luke Barrett, a 24-year-old guard/forward standing at 6'6'', graduated from SMC in 2025 after helping them clinch the WCC Regular Season Champion title that year. Currently playing professionally in Poland, Barrett recently played for AMW Arka Gdynia but unfortunately couldn't lead his team to victory in their recent match against Zastal. Despite his strong performance, scoring 15 points and grabbing 5 rebounds in 29 minutes, Arka was defeated 96-89 by Zastal, who are ranked lower at #8. This season marks Barrett's first with the team, where he has been averaging 10.0 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game.

   #4. Estonian Matthias Tass, a 27-year-old forward/center standing at 6'10'' and an alumnus of Gaels from 2022 where he received the All-WCC First Team award, is currently playing professionally in Poland. Recently, he played a crucial role in Legia Warszawa's 91-78 victory over the fifth-ranked Dziki with his impressive performance in the Polish Orlen Basket Liga. Tass scored 7 points, grabbed 3 rebounds, and dished out 2 assists in 23 minutes of play, showcasing his versatility on the court. Legia Warszawa, currently holding the top spot in the league with a record of 22-8, secured their seventh consecutive victory thanks in part to Tass' contributions. This season marks Tass' first with the team, and he has been making a significant impact with an average of 4.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. Tass' stellar performance against Dziki highlights his skill and value to the team as they continue their successful season in the league.

   #5. Stephen Holt, a 6'4'' shooting guard who graduated from SMC in 2014 and received the NABC Division I All-District 9 Second Team award that same year, is currently playing professionally in the Philippines. In a recent game, he played a crucial role in Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings' victory over the Painters, who were closely ranked at 9-3. Holt's performance was noteworthy as he scored 8 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, and provided 1 assist in 32 minutes of play. This game was a highly anticipated matchup between two top 4 ranked teams, with Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings currently holding the second position in the league standings. Holt's contributions on the court were vital in securing the victory for his team against Rain or Shine, showcasing his ability to make an impact when it matters most. His consistent performance throughout the season is reflected in his averages of 8.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. It is also interesting to note that Holt holds both American and Filipino citizenship, allowing him to play in the Philippines as a domestic player, further enhancing his value to the team. With his skills and dedication, Holt played a key role in leading his team to success and ultimately emerging as the champion.

   #6. Jordan Ford, a 6'1'' guard and 28-year-old Gaels alumnus from 2020, currently plays professionally in Turkey. Recently, he made a significant impact by helping Bahcesehir Koleji Istanbul secure a convincing 101-79 victory over closely-ranked Besiktas in a highly anticipated derby game in the Turkish ING Basketbol Super Ligi. Despite only playing for 5 minutes, Ford managed to contribute 3 crucial points to his team's win. By scoring 3 points in the game against Besiktas, Jordan Ford played a key role in leading his team to victory, showcasing his skills and determination as a champion. Throughout this season, Ford has maintained an average of 5.0 points per game and 1.1 rebounds per game, demonstrating his consistency and value to his team as they strive for success in the league.

   #7. Australian Alexander Mudronja, a 26-year-old guard standing at 6'5'' and a graduate of SMC in 2019 where he helped them emerge as the champion of the WCC Tournament, currently showcases his skills in professional basketball in Australia. In a recent game last Friday, despite his remarkable performance, the Mount Gambier Pioneers, positioned 15th in the league with a 5-9 record, were narrowly defeated 97-95 by the Ringwood Hawks, ranked 13th in the South group. Mudronja, the standout player of the match, displayed his prowess by scoring 20 points in 36 minutes of play. Facing off against the Ringwood Hawks, Mudronja delivered a stellar performance, contributing 20 points along with 2 rebounds and 2 assists. Despite his impressive efforts, his team was unable to secure the victory. Throughout the season, Mudronja has consistently excelled, boasting impressive averages of 19.8 points per game, 3.8 rebounds per game, and 2.4 assists per game.

   #8. Australian champion Emmett Naar, a 6'1'' guard aged 31 and a Gaels alumnus from 2018, who received the All-WCC First Team award that year, currently plays professionally in Australia. Recently, he showcased his skills by leading the Rockingham Flames to a dominant 110-85 victory over the 11th-ranked Lightning in the Australian NBL One, the second division of Australian basketball, on Saturday night. During the game, Naar demonstrated his prowess by scoring 14 points, grabbing 6 rebounds, and dishing out 9 assists in just 29 minutes of play. His stellar performance was instrumental in securing the championship for his team, as they emerged victorious over Lakeside L. Naar's remarkable contributions on the court played a key role in leading his team to success. In addition to his standout performance, Naar has been maintaining impressive statistics this season, averaging 12.1 points per game, 3.5 rebounds per game, 9.3 assists per game (the second-best in the league), and 1.5 steals per game. His consistent performance and leadership qualities make him a valuable asset to his team as they strive for further success in the competition.

   #9. Australian Lucas Walker, a 6'8'' forward, who is 41 years old and an alumnus of SMC (graduated in 2009), showcased his skills on the court as he helped lead the Sutherland Sharks to victory against the 15th-ranked Panthers with a dominant 102-80 win in the Australian NBL One, which is the second division of Australian basketball, on Sunday night. Despite only scoring 2 points in 9 minutes of play, Walker's contribution was crucial in securing the win for his team and ultimately earning them the champion title of the game. Throughout the season, Walker has been averaging 5.4 points per game and 3.0 rebounds per game, demonstrating his consistent performance on the court.

   #10. Paul Marigney, a 6'3'' guard and Gaels alumnus from the class of 2005, showcased his basketball prowess in a recent game in the Ecuadorian Liga Nacional de Baloncesto. The 43-year-old standout, who received the All-WCC Team award during his college years, currently plays professionally in Ecuador. In a thrilling match, Marigney led Alvarado to a decisive 86-76 victory over the league leaders, Piratas, on Tuesday night. His exceptional performance on the court earned him the MVP title for the game. During the game, Marigney displayed his skills by scoring an impressive 26 points and grabbing 13 rebounds, all while maintaining a perfect free-throw record of eight out of eight attempts, in his 36 minutes of playtime. His remarkable double-double performance not only contributed significantly to his team's win but also earned him accolades such as the Triple-Double Badge from eurobasket.com, further solidifying his reputation as a champion player. Throughout the season, Marigney has consistently delivered outstanding performances, boasting impressive averages of 16.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. His dedication, skill, and leadership on the court have undoubtedly made him a standout finalist in the league.
