Here is the weekly review of the top performing Hawkeyes alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.



   #1. Experienced British player Gabriel Olaseni, a 6'10'' center at 34 years old who graduated from Iowa in 2015 and received the All-Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year award that year, currently plays professionally in Spain. In the recent game, Olaseni, a standout performer, couldn't prevent Casademont Zaragoza (10-24) from suffering a 86-98 defeat on the road against the much higher-ranked (#4) Valencia. Despite the loss, Olaseni showcased his skills by leading his team in scoring with 25 points and contributing 7 rebounds in 30 minutes of play. This defeat marked Zaragoza's sixth consecutive loss, making every upcoming game crucial as the Regular Season nears its end. Notably, this is Olaseni's first season with the team, and he has been maintaining solid stats with an average of 12.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game in the four games he has played so far.

   #2. South Sudanese Peter Jok, a 6'6'' guard who is 32 years old and an alumnus of the Hawkeyes from 2017, currently plays professionally in Angola. In a recent game in the Basketball Africa League, Jok led his Angolan team P.Luanda to a decisive 83-69 victory over the closely-ranked Dar City, who had a record of 2-3. Jok contributed significantly to the win by scoring 15 points in just 22 minutes of play. This particular match was a highly anticipated showdown between two of the top 4 ranked teams in the league. Atletico Petroleos de Luanda, with a record of 4-1, holds the second position in the standings. The victory marked Jok's team's third consecutive win, showcasing their strong form in the competition. Jok's performance on the court was outstanding, as he not only scored 15 points but also secured 2 rebounds and provided 1 assist against Dar City. His skillful display and leadership were instrumental in securing the victory for his team, highlighting his qualities as a true champion. Throughout the current season, Jok has been averaging 6.6 points per game and 3.0 rebounds per game across nine games, further solidifying his impact on the team as they aim for success in the league.

   #3. Andrew Thelwell, a 24-year-old guard standing at 6'3'' who graduated from Iowa in 2025, showcased his talent during Monday night's game in the French ELITE 2 league. Playing for Elan Bearnais Pau-Lacq-Orthez, he played a crucial role in their narrow 89-87 victory over Champagne, the tenth-ranked team with a 21-17 record. Thelwell contributed 5 points, 1 rebound, and 2 assists in his 20 minutes on the court. Elan Bearnais Pau-Lacq-Orthez, currently placed second in the league with a record of 26-12, secured their third consecutive win with Thelwell's help. His performance against Champagne highlighted his skills and determination as a champion. Thelwell's overall stats for the season are impressive, averaging 10.5 points, 1.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.1 steals per game in 33 appearances. Despite being a naturalized American, Thelwell has made a significant impact in the French league and continues to prove himself as a valuable player for his team.

   #4. Serbian champion Filip Rebraca, a 28-year-old forward standing at 6'9" and an alumnus of the Hawkeyes from 2023, currently plays professionally in Serbia. Recently, he made a significant contribution to KK FMP SoccerBet Beograd's victory against the 17th-ranked Partizan in a thrilling derby game in the Serbian Meridianbet Kosarkaska lige Srbije. Despite scoring only 2 points and grabbing 4 rebounds in 24 minutes of play, Rebraca's performance was crucial in his team's 92-79 win. KK FMP SoccerBet Beograd, currently ranked second from the bottom at #21 in the Joined in Play-Off group, benefitted from Rebraca's solid performance. In the game against Partizan, he not only scored 2 points and grabbed 4 rebounds but also contributed 2 assists, helping his team secure the victory and ultimately claim the champion title. Throughout the season, Rebraca has been averaging 6.8 points per game and 5.3 rebounds per game in the four games played so far.

   #5. Tyler Cook, a 6'9'' power forward who graduated from Iowa in 2019 and received the USBWA All-District VI Team award that year, currently plays professionally in Puerto Rico. Despite his efforts, Cook was unable to lead Osos de Manati (8-16) to victory against Cangrejeros (11-12) in the Puerto Rican Baloncesto Superior Nacional. During the game, Cook managed to score 4 points in just 7 minutes on the court. The sixth-placed Osos de Manati suffered a 87-92 defeat to the fifth-ranked Cangrejeros in Group B, marking their fourth consecutive loss. Despite Cook's contribution of 4 points against Santurce, his team was unable to secure a win in the match. Throughout the season, Cook has maintained solid statistics with an average of 12.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game in 18 appearances.

   #6. Douglas Thomas, a 6'9'' center and 42-year-old alum of the Hawkeyes from 2006, currently plays professionally in the TBL. Recently, he showcased his skills by aiding the Tri-City Tide in a resounding 102-89 victory over the DC Heat in a recent The Basketball League match. In just 13 minutes of play, Thomas managed to contribute significantly by scoring 5 points, securing 5 rebounds, and blocking 2 shots. His remarkable performance against the DC Heat, where he scored 5 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and provided 2 assists, was instrumental in his team's triumph. His contributions on the court undoubtedly played a crucial role in leading his team to clinch the champion title in the match. Throughout this season, Thomas has maintained impressive averages of 6.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.1 steals per game across 21 appearances. His consistent performance and valuable contributions highlight his importance to the team as they strive towards success in the league.
