Hosts
Saba battery made it and overpowered against Syrians
Al Jalaa of Aleppo to get crowned in the 18th
edition of Asian Clubs Championship which was hosted
in Tehran, Iran.
Saba's players did'nt want to let their fans down
from the beginning of the game and succeeded to make
the big gap 18-6 before Michel Maadanli's huge
effort to be back to game's atmosphere to make the
range 7 points only at the end of 1st quarter 20-13.
Second quarter was better from the syrians who
entered with more concentration and insisting
through Maadanli who continued his superb
performance scoring 16 points in this session only
to lead in some parts but Aidin Behrami kept the
lead for saba at the end of 1st half 41-39.
The beginning of 2nd half and 3rd quarter was so
slow from both teams, Samad Nikkhah scored from all
ranges without any stop from the syrian players who
found themselves behind again in this quarter 56-54.
Al Jalaa continued their dissapointed performance
esspecially after the wakeup from Saba's stars
Aidin, Garth Joseph and Samad to force the syrians'
coach Shereef Azmi to play with some subtitutes
trying to stop the iranian waves from scoring but
that was too late to end the game for iranians by 7
84-75.
